In May of 2003, i had a day at work that was so rich and diverse that at the end of the day i thought, ‘I could write a book about this day’.  The idea laid dormant in my journal for at least 4 years.  Almost 10 years later, it has finally materialized.  It is a book about who i am and what i know about hospice.  Having been a hospice nurse for almost 35 years, i wanted to share what i have learned during that time.  The book is divided into 3 sections; An account of the day back in 2003 , my personal journey, and the why, who, where and when of hospice.  My intention for writing the book was to help alleviate the stigma the word hospice carries.  Anyone faced with a life threatening illness should be well informed of all their options.  I want people to be informed about what a viable option hospice is and not just something to be left with after all treatment has failed.  Hospice is about quality of life and living each day to the fullest.   The book explains how hospice works and gives the reader a realistic view of what hospice is all about.  It is my hope that there is something to learned for everyone who reads this book; whether you or a loved one has a life threatening illness or not.  Blessings to you all !
